Weighted Bivariate Copulas: A Practical Approach for Data Modeling

چکیده :

Copulas have recently attracted increasing attention as effective tools for multivariate modeling, yet their application in context analysis remains relatively unexplored. This study introduces a generalization of the Clayton copula through the use of a suitable weighting function. We construct generalized bivariate distributions based on the weighted Clayton copula and examine their main properties. Although both the standard and weighted Clayton copulas are unsuitable for capturing negative dependence, they are effective in modeling left-tail dependence, with the weighted version exhibiting a stronger effect. Furthermore, we illustrate the practical relevance of the generalized Clayton copula by applying it to the probabilistic modeling of hydrological data.
